The Meaning in the Making | @seantuck | Episode 1

From “Heather Parady” on YouTube

In a world obsessed with production and output, it is easy to forget to pause and question the real meaning behind our work. Last year, when I found myself in a difficult season, questioning my calling and creative voice, I ran across this man on Youtube.

Sean Tucker —Photographer, Filmmaker, Author, and “Armchair Philosopher”—joins us to discuss his book, Meaning in the Making, and how to find purpose in your creative work. As a former pastor and now accomplished photographer and filmmaker, Sean has been able to weave spiritual and psychological topics into beautiful narratives throughout his content.

In this conversation we talk about finding your voice post-religion, the pull between “consistency” and meaningful work, and how to make content you truly believe in.

Interview with Sean Tucker

From “Street Life” Podcast with John St and Mark Davidson

In this episode Sean discusses, among other things:

How he got his start in photography. The realities of becoming a working photographer. How product photography got him into YouTube. How the church informed his YouTube videos. Why patience is vital in street photography. How to advance your photography if you’ve hit a plateau. The importance of surrounding yourself with a network of supportive photographers. What his artistic legacy will be.

Defining Success w/Sean Tucker

From “Tommy Reynolds” on YouTube

This is my first video after a couple of months away due to hitting a brick wall called confidence knock. When Sean appraoched we to shoot his portrait I was extremely flattered he has asked me because I've admired his work for a couple of years now and love his approach on life. This conversation was exactly what I needed to hear and I think everyone can gain something from our amazing but more importanly, truthful conversation.

Can you get big prints from the RICOH GR III?

From “RICOH GR Photography” on YouTube

Sean Tucker and Samuel Streetlife head out on the streets of London to see if they can shoot, edit and make a beautiful print from the Ricoh GR, all in one day.

#5 Sean Tucker gentle giant of YouTube FOCUS EDITION

From “The Photowalk” Podcast with Neale James

My photographer guest hasn’t followed the conventional rules suggested by the thousands of films on how to build a YouTube following. He doesn’t really do kit reviews, and shies from controversy, and actually only promises to produce one film a month, whilst current thinking suggests you should be producing as much as you can, as quickly as you can, as often as you can.

He’s a thinker, he’s a photographer and as he approaches the four hundred thousand mark (at the time of posting) in terms of subscribers, I thought it was a good time to try and find out how a photographer of his calibre and mindset courts and makes films for the most successful video outlet on this planet. Sean Tucker agreed to talk and share his story from his front room, or in YouTube language, his studio set.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE Ep 40: Sean Tucker | Street Photography | GOAT

From “FRONT Photography” on YouTube

Since we got into photography, Sean Tucker has been a constant source of inspiration. From his stunning brutalist street work mostly in London (unofficially / brilliantly dubbed 'light architecture' by one fan a few years ago), to his more recent softer approach to the streets and countryside of Yorkshire... from his beautifully shot YouTube videos exploring a multitude of topics, to his 2021 book 'The Meaning in the Making', discussing the philosophy around taking a photograph and why... It's fair to say this was a big deal, and whatever I write here doesn't really go far enough to explain how much of a joy this was to record (despite my face saying otherwise), and how appreciative we were of Sean giving up his evening to talk to us.
