RURAL

After years of documenting the rhythm and energy of city life, my move from London to North Yorkshire marked the beginning of a quieter, more contemplative chapter in my work. Surrounded by open landscapes and slower rhythms, I began photographing scenes of rural life — the people, the textures, and the small rituals that define life outside the city. This body of work explores our relationship with place, weather, time, and the enduring beauty found in simplicity.

Though the setting has changed, my approach remains the same: to observe with honesty and to find meaning in the everyday.

PARABLE: ‘A simple story or analogy offered to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson.’

This the fourth in a series of publications featuring photography and writing around a theme. In this edition I share a series of intimate landscape images and pastoral scenes made since my move up to rural North Yorkshire.

I also talk about why I made the move out of the big city, how it’s affected my photography, and the ups and downs of seeking a quieter life in the countryside.

PARABLE vol.4 is printed on environmentally-friendly, uncoated paper giving a pleasing matt feel in the hand, and muted hues with lifted, charcoal blacks to the rendering of the images. This edition is 48 sides at a large A4 size with staple binding.
